privacy policy
Last updated: 4 October 2026
This policy explains what Anti-social book club (“the app”, “we”) collects when you use the mobile app and this website, why, and what you can do about it. The short version: we keep what the app needs to work, we don’t sell it, and we don’t track you for advertising.
What we collect
- Account information. The app signs you in anonymously by default and gives you a random user ID. If you choose to sign in with Apple or Google, we also receive the email address and basic profile details that provider shares with us.
- Content you add. Your reading taste answers, your notes, the books you have checked, and your “on the pile” or “pass” decisions.
- Photos and text you submit. When you check a book, the photo or text is sent to our server to identify the books in it. Photos are processed in memory and are not stored after the result is returned.
- Purchase information. If you subscribe to Plus, we receive your subscription status and purchase history from the app store. We never see your card details.
- Usage counts. We count your book checks each month to apply the free limit.
How we use it
- To identify books and describe them to you.
- To assess how a book fits your taste, using your reading taste answers and notes.
- To keep your record, notes, and decisions available to you.
- To manage subscriptions and the free monthly limit.
- To keep the service secure and fix problems.
We do not sell your data, show ads, or use your data to track you across other apps and websites.
Who processes it for us
- Supabase hosts our database and handles sign-in.
- OpenAI analyses the photos and text you submit, together with your reading taste, to identify books and write the results.
- RevenueCat manages subscription status.
- Apple and Google process payments and, if you choose it, sign-in.
These providers process data on our behalf and may do so in countries other than your own.
How long we keep it
We keep your account content until you delete it or ask us to delete your account. Photos are discarded as soon as a book check finishes.
Your choices
- You can edit or delete notes and reading taste answers in the app.
- You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete your account and everything in it, by emailing hello@antisocialbook.club.
- You can withdraw camera and photo permissions at any time in your device settings.
Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under local law, including the right to complain to your data protection authority.
